PACIFICA – Anchorpoint Christian’s boys and girls basketball teams took to the road on Saturday, and both ended up scoring victories at Oceana High School in Pacifica.
The Lady Warriors (3-2) won their matchup 54-23, with Chelsea Urbanski and Adrianna Osuna dominating on the inside.
Urbanski led all scorers with 25 points to go with 15 rebounds, while Osuna collected nearly everything outside of Urbanski’s reach to finish the contest with 23 rebounds and eight points.
“The rest of them team all contributed, too,” Anchorpoint coach K.C. Adams said. “It was team, defensive effort.”
Anchorpoint’s boys (4-3) were equally successful on the day, breaking a three-game losing streak by topping Oceana 66-53.
Junior guard Josh Ignagni exploded for 29 points, while Shaq Johnson had a breakout game in the paint, scoring 17 points and collecting as many rebounds.
Marcus Harrell had the most impressive all-around effort, recording a triple-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. Forward Colton Minyard also played a key role in the win.
Despite having less than half the number of players Oceana – Anchorpoint only has seven individuals on its roster – the Warriors were able to rally late.
“We just kept hustling, outworking those guys,” Adams said.
Results from Monday’s games against Calvary Christian were unavailable as of press time. The boys’ next game will be Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. against Waldorf. The girls’ next game will be Friday, when both Anchorpoint teams face Marina at South Valley Middle School.
