Thirteen of the 15 Christopher High boys water polo players who saw time in the pool Tuesday tallied at least one goal, as the Cougars made swift work of host Watsonville High 26-3 in Tri-County Athletic League Valley Division action.

Led by four-goal games from Matthew Higginbotham and James Benson, the Cougars (1-1) converted 41 of their shots on goal and had 16 assists to their 26 goals.

CHS exploded out to a 10-0 lead after the first period and led 16-2 by halftime.

Gabriel Lopez (three), Brennan Wilson, Cesar Diaz, Brandon Irby, Brennan Laden (two each), Evan Shapiro, Zac Syth, Scott Willard, Armando Gutierrez, Steven Sifuentes, and Octavio Cisneros (one apiece), round out the Cougars scorers.

CHS faces San Lorenzo Valley at Gavilan College. Game time is slated for 6: 30 p.m.

CHS girls water polo

Kaitlin Ramirez and Shannon McAvoy each netted four goals in a CHS girls water polo 13-10 loss to Watsonville on Tuesday.

The Cougars trailed 9-3 at the half, but rallied to pull within three goals in the third, outscoring the Wildcatz 5-2. However, both teams registered two goals in the final period, preventing the Cougars from completing their comeback.

Hannah Marquez and Natalie Garcia also had a goals for CHS, which hosts Aptos at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Gavilan College.
