Get out of town
Learn Spanish in Spain this summer with Gavilan College. Students will spend four weeks in Spain living with host families where they can earn up to five units. Every year people from all over California participate in the Gavilan program to learn about the language, food, and culture of Spain. There are also optional weekend excursions to Italy, France, Portugal and neighboring cities.

Orientation is 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 in Gavilan College Room HUM 105. Â The college is at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. The cost is $1,500 plus airfare. For more information contact Albert Marques at am******@ga*****.edu or 408-848-4794.

Kinder sign-ups
Registration and enrollment for new kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students opens next week in the Gilroy Unified School District.
It begins Wednesday, March 2 at all eight elementary schools in the district. Children who are 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2016, can register for kindergarten.
A child is eligible for transitional kindergarten (TK) if he or she turns 5 between Sept. 2 and Dec. 2, 2016.
Parents can use the GUSD School Finder to determine their school attendance area.
To enroll a child, parents must show proof of age (birth certificate/baptismal certificate/passport/military ID and proof of required immunizations (original documents required for both). Required immunizations for are as follows: Polio (4 series); TB Skin Test or TB Risk Assessment; DTP (5 series); HEP B (3 series); MMR (2 series); and Varicella (1 series).
Immunization requirements have recently changed in accordance with SB 277, which went into effect on Jan. 1 of this year.

Buy Spring and Easter décor, jewelry, collectibles, home-baked goods, and more, all at great prices, and all to raise funds for Live Oak, the non-profit day care center for the elderly.  The boutique starts March 1 and will continue weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. until Easter.
