Men’s DD
Gilroy – Whiplash toppled Chris Costello Electric 11-2 Thursday to leave both clubs at 3-1 atop the Men’s DD League standings at Christmas Hill Park.
Mario Silva lined a two-run home run and Augustin Gamez added a solo shot to anchor the Whiplash offense. Jesus Perez collected two doubles, Jose Cortez a two-run triple for the winners. Andy Amador went 3-for-3 for the Electricians.
The SVCC Thumpers stopped a three-game losing streak by powering past Victory Outreach 18-12.
Frank Palacios homered and singled as the Thumpers erupted for nine first-inning runs. Mario Flores, good for a single and triple in the rally, finished 4-for-4. Steve Conroy went 3-for-3 and scored three SVCC runs. Jesse Jimenez paced the Victory Outreach offense with a double and two singles, scoring three times.
The Assassins moved to 3-2 and third place by defeating VFW Bingo 14-4.
Cesar Juarez hit a two-run home run to ignite a four-run top of the first for the Assassins. Louie Gamez and Juarez each netted three hits for the winners. Gabe Romero and George Dequin combined doubles to produce a Bingo run in the second frame.
Co-Rec C
A to Z improved to 4-1 atop the Co-Rec Winter C League standings with a 15-11 win over Frame Your Family In Eyewear Thursday at Las Animas Park.
Dennis Subia lashed a double and two singles to lead the A to Z offense. Henry Huerta went 3-for-4 and scored three A to Z runs. Daniel Vasquez homered and Jason Trujillo managed a triple, double and single for the 3-2 Framers. Nicole Villarreal and Ruben Castro each finished with three hits.
Jose Serrano Trucking is also at 4-1 with a 28-3 win over Loco’s Only. Rick Trujillo powered two homers and Tito Flores and Edgar Polanco added one apiece for the Truckers. Adam DeLeon went 3-for-3 for Loco’s Only.
The Big Kahunas joined the Framers in third at 3-2 with a 22-7 win over Cosa Nostra. Mark Logan homered and Danny Benz provided four doubles and scored six runs for the Kahunas. Josh Gonzalez went 3-for-3 for Cosa Nostra.
Men’s CCC
The Platinum Roofing Slammers earned a share of first place in the Men’s Winter CCC League competition Wednesday with a 15-14 edging of Louie & the Outlaws at Christmas Hill Park.
Dustin Barnes slapped a two-out, RBI-single to leftfield to cap a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning for the 3-1 Slammers. Joaquin Chacon and Ray Covarrubias scored the deciding runs for the winners.
Eddie Castaneda anchored the Platinum Roofing offense with two doubles and a single. Joseph Duran, Eddie Gamboa and Val Casillas each managed three singles for the winners.
Louie & the Outlaws (3-2) trailed 9-3 after five, then struck for nine runs in the sixth for a 1-29 lead. Rich Perez singled and doubled in the rally,while Marco Lopez lined a two-run home run. Josh Gonzalez went 4-for-4 for the Outlaws.
Pacific Coast Bail Bonds erupted for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to surprise Rhino Wiring 16-15.
Allen Hazelberg, Manuel Rivera, Adrian Guzman, Kurt Szyndrowski, John Perez and Juan Contreras roped consecutive hits in the winning Pacific Coast rally. Matt Coughlin hit a home run and three singles for the winners, Guzman four singles.
Louie Chavarria cracked a triple, double and two singles to lead the Rhino offense.
George Chiala Farms (2-2) earned a forfeit victory over Hollister Motor Sports-Gilroy Steel (3-2).
Men’s DDD
Deadman Inc. joined the Loco Boys at 3-1 atop the Men’s DDD League standings Wednesday by outlasting the Good Ole Boys 10-7 at Las Animas Park.
The Good Ole Boys built a 7-1 lead by the third inning as Richard Braquet spiced a five-run third with a two-run single.
Bob Martin’s two-run single in the fifth lifted Deadman Inc. to a 7-7 tie. Mark Cisneros snapped the tie in the sixth with a double, then scored on a two-run single by Jonathan Mixter.
Pat Chris went 4-for-4 for the Good Ole Boys. Josh Ehle went 3-for-4 for the winners.
AAA-Cali Boys also moved to 3-1 with a 22-8 victory over Walton & Sons Masonry.
Art Del Valle stroked a home run, triple and two singles for the Boys. Danny Banderas added a homer, single and sacrifice fly. Sammy Rosales and Alex Gonzalez each scored four Cali Boy runs. Albert Vega posted a home run, triple and single for Walton & Sons Masonry.
Doug Baker’s solo home run in the top of the seventh inning lifted the VFW Vets past the Titans 13-12.
Joe Cano and Junior Espinoza each went 3-for-3 and Jay Contreras went 3-for-4 for the VFW Vets. Jim Reimer hit two doubles and scored twice for the Titans.
