DEAR EDITOR:

To the person who hit the small brown dog on Welburn Avenue last Wednesday around 7:30 p.m. … why couldn’t you take the time to at least remove this little one from the street? Cars were swerving around to keep from hitting her/him again. I stopped and put the body on the curb out of the street.

It was still warm so you had just hit it. I left the body there in case the owners were in the area. The only thing I can think of to say is, “Shame on you for not stopping.”

AND to the owners of this little dog, “Shame on you” for not putting a collar on your pup and for letting it run loose on such a busy street. There are so many cats and dogs killed on the streets of Gilroy (and everywhere else) for the most part because of negligent owners.
