Gilroy – Williams Dental Lab nabbed a one-game lead in the second-half Women’s B League pennant chase Wednesday with a 19-1 decision over Goldsmith’s Seeds at Las Animas Park.
Maureen Hughes homered and Melissa Hughes went 3-for-3 as Williams Dental improved to 3-1. Goldsmith’s, the first-half Women’s C champion, slipped to 2-2. Antoinette Bowe singled home Yolanda Lomas with the lone Seeds run.
Don’s Vending dropped Handmade Healthcare to 2-2 with a 12-8 setback. Lori Dixon went 5-for-5 with three RBI and Melissa Taku delivered two triples and two singles for the winners. Michelle Barry went 4-for-5 and drove in three Handmade runs.
Toby’s Girls is 3-1 in first place in the Women’s D League by edging the Energizers 7-6. LeeAnn Blean and Rene Rodgers each slapped a run-scoring extra-base hit in a three-run seventh for Toby’s Girls. Blean took game batting honors at 4-for-4. Lauren Capp and Ronnie Trujillo each mustered two hits for the Energizers.
Lorraine Marquez’ running catch with two out in the bottom of the final inning preserved an 8-2 Kay’s Kids win over Farmers Insurance. Kat Corrales went 3-for-3 for Kay’s Kids (3-1). Cyndi Casillas and Anita Garza each went 4-for-4 for Farmer’s Insurance.
Dutchman’s Pizza remained atop the Women’s C League at 3-1 with a 7-4 win over M&M’s. Vicki Groppe fashioned two RBI-singles for the winners. Sally Wrye went 3-for-3 with a sacrifice fly for M&M’s. Image & Design Salon-Guy’s Heating and Air Conditioning also hit 3-1 with a 6-4 win over Pacific Coast Bail Bonds.
