Police are looking for a man suspected of attempting to assault a woman after she pulled off the highway with mechanical problems, according to San Jose police Officer Enrique Garcia.

The incident occurred last Wednesday at approximately 6:45 p.m. on Coyote Creek Golf Drive. The female victim, a 25-year-old Los Gatos resident, was originally traveling northbound on U.S. 101 when the suspect pulled his car alongside her vehicle and tried to attract her attention, Garcia said. She ignored the suspect and continued to drive, but a short time later, she began to have mechanical problems and pulled off the highway onto Coyote Creek Golf Drive just north of Morgan Hill.

She told police the suspect followed her as she exited the highway and then attempted to sexually assault her, but she left the scene in her car.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, with a light complexion, between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall. He has a medium build and was wearing a red sports jacket, a red baseball cap and jeans. He was driving a white newer four-door car, similar to a Honda or Toyota.

“With sexual predators, they get bolder if they are successful without being caught,” Garcia said. “We want to get this person before his behavior escalates.”

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to contact SJPD Det. Tanaya Rose of the Sexual Assault Investigation Unit at (408) 277-4102 or leave anonymous information with Crime Stoppers at (408) 947-STOP.
