Dear Editor,

We are very lucky to have people like Rachel Hernandez and Monica Cockcroft at Antonio del Buono supervising our kids at recess, helping them cross the street, or opening our car doors. They really make the process go very smoothly in the morning drop off and the afternoon pick-up, plus it gives our kids a safe place to go to if a problem arises.

The kids respect both of them for the kind, caring, and fair way that they handle any problems. I know the kids feel comfortable going to them when they need help. It is not always easy for our kids to go to an adult and tell on another kid. Peer pressure already exists at elementary levels; especially on the playground or at pick-up times. I regularly talk to my kids about who they would ask for help from or who they feel comfortable talking to at school when they are not in the classroom and both Rachel and Monica were mentioned. They need to feel secure and safe at school at all times and both of them help provide that to our kids.

When ever you see Rachel or Monica at the school they always have a smile on their face and are ready to help out with what ever questions you or the kids might have. I value their friendship they have with all of our kids at ADB. Their friendly nature helps kids feel safe and cared for.

With them at ADB it gives my kids and I an extra layer of security. I give both of them kudos for a terrific job that they do for all of our kids. I will remind my kids to say thank you. I will do the same when I drop my kids off in the morning.
