MORGAN HILL – Three men got away with $52,000 in cash from an armed home invasion Friday north of Morgan Hill, according to the county Sheriff’s Department.

Two of the men, armed with handguns, entered the Kirby Avenue house at about 11:50 a.m. and forced the three occupants to lie on the floor, striking one in the face, according to a sheriff’s report.

The robbers took about $52,000 in cash from the home as well as two handguns, valued by the victims at $500 apiece. Although sheriff’s officers did not say why the victims had so much cash in their house, a neighbor said they own a nearby restaurant.

The robbers got away in a white Chevrolet, the victims told sheriff’s officers, although there was disagreement whether it was a sport-utility vehicle, a van or a pick-up truck. A third suspect drove the vehicle and waited outside in it while the robbers entered the house. The vehicle reportedly had dealer placards instead of license plates. The suspects communicated with each other using cellular phones that double as walkie-talkies.

The victims described all three suspects as Hispanic males in their mid-20s, wearing construction-type clothing.

Sheriff’s officers recovered fingerprints from the scene, but as the suspects reportedly wore gloves, these may be from the occupants of the house. The prints have yet to be identified.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the sheriff’s 24-hour tip line at

808-4431.
