Dear Editor:

In response to Monday’s article with the headline “Unions endorse candidates for City Council”, your article did not specify which local unions specifically endorsed the candidates.

On behalf of the Gilroy Fire Fighters Association, a member of the AFL-CIO, we would like to make it known that we cannot and will not follow the endorsements of the South Bay AFL-CIO. This organization, as they have in the past, does not take the advice of the labor unions that this endorsement directly affects. The Gilroy Fire Fighters Association will be conducting its own candidate interviews in the next few weeks and will make its endorsements based upon those interviews.
