The Gilroy High junior varsity grapplers finished with a
team-record nine weight class champions as well as two runners-up
and one third-place finisher to win the league title at Salinas
High.
SALINAS – The Gilroy High junior varsity grapplers finished with a team-record nine weight class champions as well as two runners-up and one third-place finisher to win the league title at Salinas High.

Coach Marty Serrano’s troops were just as dominating as their varsity teammates with individual titles coming from: 112-pounder Spencer Silva; 119-pounder Randy Higashi; 125-pounder Jesus Gonzalez; 130-pounder Joseph Serrano; 135-pounder Ismael Gutierrez; 145-pounder Justin Roman; 152-pounder Jose Andrade; 189-pounder Seth Whitney; and 215-pounder Vanessa Gutierrez.

In addition, 119-pounder Chris Crow and 140-pounder Miles Amodeo placed second, and heavyweight Chaz Guerrero finished in third place.
