Christopher falls to San Benito
A six-run second inning was too much for Christopher to get past during its 11-1 loss to San Benito in five innings at home Tuesday.
San Benito scored a run in the first and six in the top of the second before Christopher got on the board.
Lindsey Buessing scored on Karli Martinez’s single to left field. Christopher had runners on first and second, but that’s as far as they’d get as a ground ball ended the inning and the Cougars trailed 7-1.
San Benito pushed another in the third and three more in the fourth for the final.
Christopher (16-9 overall, 5-6 in league) sits in fourth place and will play Notre Dame—who is in second behind San Benito—at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the regular season finale.
The Central Coast Section will determine their fate in the playoffs at the seeding meeting Saturday. Check back with the Gilroy Dispatch as seedings, times, dates and locations for the playoff games are announced.
