Prep Roundup: May 14

Christopher was only able to muster up four hits against the Monterey Bay League-Gabilan Division leading San Benito during its 8-0 loss Tuesday at home.
The Balers scattered five runs over the first three innings and three more in the six for the final.
Nathan Bonsell was handed the loss for the Cougars, allowing 11 of the 12 Baler hits over five and two thirds innings. He gave up eight runs—seven earned—a walk and hit a batter.
Kevin Willard, Andre Arroyo, Ralphy Ortega and Ricky Suarez accounted for the four Christopher hits.
The second place Cougars (14-11 overall, 9-8 in league) have just one game left in the regular season, a 7 p.m. contest at Monterey Thursday. The Central Coast Section will determine their fate in the playoffs at the seeding meeting Saturday. Check back with the Gilroy Dispatch as seedings, times, dates and locations for the playoff games are announced.
SOFTBALL
Christopher falls to San Benito
A six-run second inning was too much for Christopher to get past during its 11-1 loss to San Benito in five innings at home Tuesday.
San Benito scored a run in the first and six in the top of the second before Christopher got on the board.
Lindsey Buessing scored on Karli Martinez’s single to left field. Christopher had runners on first and second, but that’s as far as they’d get as a ground ball ended the inning and the Cougars trailed 7-1.
San Benito pushed another in the third and three more in the fourth for the final.
Christopher (16-9 overall, 5-6 in league) sits in fourth place and will play Notre Dame—who is in second behind San Benito—at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the regular season finale.
The Central Coast Section will determine their fate in the playoffs at the seeding meeting Saturday. Check back with the Gilroy Dispatch as seedings, times, dates and locations for the playoff games are announced.
