Velasquez, Barmore, Bennett advance to CCS
SALINAS – Three members of the Gilroy High boys cross country team are headed to the CCS meet as well with freshman Arnufo Velasquez, Steven Bennett and Nate Barmore all recording qualifying times.
Velasquez finished 19th overall – breaking the 18-minute mark for the first time this season.
As a team, Gilroy (136 points) finished in sixth-place behind league-champ Salinas (32), Hollister (51), Live Oak (82), Palma (101) and North Salinas (114).
The section championships are scheduled for Nov. 16 at Toro Park in Salinas.
