There’s still a chance a ballot measure that would raise the sales tax in Santa Clara County to help pay for a BART extension into Silicon Valley could still pass.
Santa Clara County election officials are still counting the ballots cast for Measure B, but say now the measure has reached the approval level it needs to pass — 66.67 percent.
With nearly 612,000 votes counted, officials still need to count about 9,800 ballots.
Officials say they expect to have the last ballots counted by early next week.
The vote must be certified by Dec. 2.
If the measure does end up passing, it would increase the sales tax by one-eighth of a cent to help pay for a BART extension to San Jose.
More information will be posted later in the day.
