Police are unlikely to cite the motorcyclist who suffered head trauma and multiple fractures in a May 26 traffic accident on Watsonville Road.
Gregory Hampton, 49 of Morgan Hill, who was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle at the time of the accident, was at fault in the collision involving an Infiniti sedan, according to California Highway Patrol officer Jaime Rios. Hampton was driving southbound on Watsonville Road and illegally crossed into the northbound lane to pass another vehicle near the intersection of Hummingbird Lane.
The Infiniti with which Hampton crashed was turning from Hummingbird Lane onto Watsonville Road, and the two vehicles collided head-on in the northbound lane of Watsonville Road, Rios said.
The driver of the Infiniti, Steven Romero, 45 of Danville, was not injured, Rios said.
Hampton was taken to Valley Medical Center with a major head trauma, a fractured femur and fractured ribs, Rios said. Police did not have an update on his condition or recovery this week.
Police will probably not cite the motorcyclist for the vehicle code violation that likely caused the accident, Rios said.
