Dear Editor,
In 2007, I asked the City Council to consider consolidating city dispatch services in an effort to significantly reduce costs while providing better services.
My effort was rebuked. Today, the cities of Los Altos, Mountain View and Sunnyvale – as directed by their respective Councils – are moving forward to implement such an option with a projected initial savings of $4 million dollars. Consolidating emergency services will result in a budgetary savings for the residents of Morgan Hill.
It is time for cities to think out of the box.
