The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Corner’s office reported Monday that Kayleigh Booten, 20, is the San Martin woman who died when the vehicle she was driving rolled over on Monterey Road early Saturday morning.
Police and fire personnel responded to the single-vehicle accident on the 8300 block of Monterey Road in Gilroy about 2:53 a.m. Saturday, according to a press release from the Gilroy Police Department.
Booten, the solo occupant, was extricated from the 2001 Honda Acura by emergency personnel, authorities said. She was transported to an area hospital, where she succumbed to injuries suffered in the accident.
According to GPD Sgt. Pedro Espinoza, the GPD Major Accident Investigation Team has started its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Espinoza says he is unable to speculate on any causes. He also pointed out that a toxicology report from the coroner could take several weeks.
“There are no new developments,” he said Tuesday. “The Major Accident Investigation Team still has to go out there and reconstruct the crash scene and try to figure out the speed (of the car).”
Anyone with information about the accident can call Gilroy Police Department at (408) 846-0350.
A private funeral service for Booten will be held Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill.
Booten’s obituary, submitted to the Dispatch from Johnson Funeral Home, reads as follows:
“Our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, aunt and cousin; dear Kayleigh has been taken from us in the bloom of her life. The memory of her will dwell in our hearts forever. The void left in our lives can never be filled. Kayleigh had such a soft heart and love of animals of all kinds; she couldn’t resist taking them in and caring for them. She liked to cook and she loved her shoes. We were so blessed to have her in our lives, however brief it was. She was such a joy. We cherished our time with Kayleigh and cherish her memory. She will be so missed. Goodbye, our angel. We love you forever. She is in the Lord’s hands surrounded by the love of all our family who has gone before her.”
