Sam Rice, 85, and longtime resident of Hollister went to be with our Lord Jesus on July 25, 2013 after a short illness.
Sam was born in Lubbock, Texas and moved his family to California in 1955. He was an electrician and a building contractor locally for many years.
He loved traveling, fishing and house boating with his family and friends.
Sam helped build and establish the Apostolic Full Gospel Church of Christ on Santa Ana Rd and served as either as a board member or asst. pastor for over 40 years. He loved to sing the southern gospel hymns and was a bass singer in many of the church choir groups. He was a great man of God, a loving father and a devoted husband to his wife of 60 years, Charlene, who preceded him in death in 2008.
Sam was a spiritual mentor and a teacher who was always willing to give of his time to shepherd his congregation. His great love of his family and solid faith in God were obvious in the way he lived and served.
He is survived by his children, Dorothy and Jim Dunn of Hollister, Mary and Robert Solorio of Turlock and David and Joy Rice of Hollister. He had eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
