Crime Briefs: Man stabs sister with knife

It was crime as usual this week, plus a couple of strange incidents. Here’s what Gilroy Police have been up to this week:

 Suspect chased, officer wounded

Jose Cid, a 35-year-old wanted man from Gilroy with a lengthy criminal history, fled from police at midnight April 25 and was ultimately arrested for three outstanding warrants as well as for absconding from probation and resisting an office. The Gilroy officer jumped a chain link fence while trying to catch Cid and ended up with large, serious lacerations on his arm. Cid was taken to Santa Clara County Jail.

 Scene at City Hall

Michelle Zaldivar, 43, was arrested for making at least four 911 calls that Police said were not emergencies and for causing a disturbance at City Hall when she screamed at City employees on 4 p.m. April 26.

The worst kind of drunk dial 

In an unrelated case, a drunk man by the name of Byron Morillo, 50, made multiple calls to 911 at 7 p.m. the same day. Police say the calls were unwarranted and Morillo was arrested for being drunk in public. 

Who’s that in my car?

A woman came out of Barnes and Noble on Camino Arroyo at 3:30 p.m. April 26 to find someone sitting in her car. She had left her car locked, so the suspect may have used a Slim Jim to enter. He fled as the victim and her friends approached. The victim believes that a second suspect was monitoring the victim in the store and alerted the man in the car when they exited. The suspects are associated with a white truck with a white camper shell.

Gun grabber

A man with an outstanding warrant, 50-year-old Joseph Estrada, resisted arrest at 1:53 a.m. April 28 for allegedly attempting to take an officer’s gun from his holster and for being in possession of a controlled substance.

Man stabs sister

At 9:17 p.m. April 28, Victor Aguilar, 25, allegedly stabbed his sister in the head with a knife and choked a second victim on the 7600 block of Murray Avenue.  He was arrested on two counts of assault of a deadly weapon and parole violations. She was treated on the scene and later transported to a local hospital.
