GILROY – Jiffy Lube clinched at least a tie for the first half Men’s D Basketball League title by stopping Intero 80-52 on Monday at Solorsano Gymnasium.
JT Tipton and Nick Tuttle each scored 21 points as Jiffy Lube moved to 5-0. Jiffy Lube plays 4-1 Hard Ninety next Monday at 8 p.m.
Robert Otis notched 11 of his 14 points in the first half as Jiffy Tube fashioned a 33-30 lead. Ron Colman Jr. provided 11 of his 13 points in the second half as Jiffy Lube quickly expanded its advantage.
Miguel Gilliard tossed in five 3-pointers while pacing the Intero offense with 22 points. Marcos Barbosa followed with 11 points.
Hard Ninety earned its third consecutive victory by outlasting Gamers In Control 65-39.
Frank Tomasetti poured in 21 points, including 16 in the second half, to pace Hard Ninety. Rick Hattaway threaded four 3-pointers in a 15-point effort. Robert Mercado helped the Hard Ninety cause with 14 points. Anthony Werner anchored the Gamers In Control attack with 26 points.
Techron snapped a four-game losing streak by edging South Valley Disposal 54-53.
Mark Taylan made seven 3-pointers while leading Techron with 25 points. Kendrick Azcueta exploded for 16 Techron points.
Rick Vasquez led the South Valley Disposal shooters with 20 points. Robert Rodriguez hustled to15 points and Steve Luchetti worked inside for 10 points for South Valley Disposal.
Shake N Bake scored a 59-52 comeback win over the Gilroy Bulls Wednesday to take sole possession of first place in the Men’s DD Basketball League at Solorsano Gym.
The Bulls, dropping to 3-2 with one week left in the first half, raced to a 34-23 intermission lead as Chris Niffenegger, Chris Bibaeff and Mike Gunter each popped in two 3-pointers.
Tucker Baksa tossed in 14 of his game-high 22 points in the second half as Shake N Bake (4-1) gained the lead with six minutes left. Eric Tollison provided 17 points, Vince Bautista 12 for the Shakers. Hector Salgado registered 13 points, Niffenegger and Gunter 10 apiece for the Bulls.
The Warriors knocked Morgan Hill Garage Door out of a share of first place with a 43-39 upset.
Jason Ramirez struck for 15 points and Adolfo Tellez netted 12 for the 2-3 Warriors. Geno Cotter paced Morgan Hill Garage Door (3-2) with 13 points.
Bill Klauer and Lamont Chappell scored 12 points each to help Crunch Time (3-2) defeat State Farm 47-33.
Kyle Billups and Jason Wolowitz scored nine points each for Crunch Time. Adam Morales scored 12 points, Edward Johnson 10 for the Insurers.
