Friends of the San Martin Animal Shelter (known as FOSMAS) will host an adoption fair from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday at their brand new, permanent cat adoption center at Petco, located at 8767 San Ysidro Avenue in Gilroy. The event is taking place in conjunction with National Pet Adoption Weekend.

The cage-free, recently established adoption center inside Petco is proving to “be a happy place for our kitties, volunteers and visitors,” according to a FOSMAS press release.

“We’re getting a lot of compliments about both the kitties and the center itself,” FOSMAS states. “So stop by soon to see our homey center, spend some time with our little buddies and see how happy our little waifs are while they wait for their forever families.”

Can’t adopt right now? Consider volunteering at the adoption center by donating a few hours of your time each week. Those interested can contact Linda Cunningham at

FOSMAS organizers hope to facilitate an adoption fair at Petco at least twice a month. Those who can’t make the adoption fairs, but are interested in giving a feline a loving home, can schedule an appointment with a FOSMAS volunteer.

Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works with the Santa Clara County shelter. For more information about FOSMAS, visit www.fosmas.org or call (408) 681-3788.
