Gilroy enjoyed a relatively quiet week, as far as crime goes, but police responded to a handful of random criminal acts. Here are a few standout events.
Man allegedly caught up on some sleep in stranger’s car
At 10:41 a.m. on July 3, a woman called police, reporting that a man unknown to her was sleeping in her car on the 7600 block of Filice Drive. David Roscoe, 27 of Gilroy, was allegedly found with less than an ounce of marijuana and was arrested for a parole violation. He was arrested for violation of parole and taken to Santa Clara County Jail, according to Gallacinao.
Car window smashed, gym bag stolen
The window of a white Honda Civic was smashed by an unknown suspect at 7:30 p.m. on July 3 at 8300 Arroyo Circle. The suspect stole a gym bag with an iPod and various clothing items.
Man on cocaine wanders through yards
Andy Salinas, 48 of Gilroy, was allegedly found wandering through people’s backyards in an apartment complex and following people up their stairs at 11:19 a.m. on July 4. No one from the apartment complex claimed to know him. Police said he displayed obvious symptoms of drug intoxication and was found with a glass pipe and a small bag of cocaine. He was arrested for being under the influence of a central nervous stimulant and for possession of .17 grams of cocaine. He was taken to Santa Clara County Jail.
When you got to go, you… break down the door?
A Hispanic male wearing a red hat wanted to use the restroom at Jack-in-the-Box on Monterey and First Streets at 11:54 p.m. on July 4 when the restaurant wasn’t open. When the employee reportedly did not let the man in, he kicked the glass door, causing it to unhinge. By the time police arrived, the suspect had fled.
