Two people working on a pumpkin patch Wednesday morning were run over by a forklift after its driver lost control, according to the county fire department.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. along Fairview Road in a field just southeast of Highway 156, said Sammy Breazile, a firefighter with San Benito County’s contracted Calfire unit.
The forklift driver lost control and ran over the two workers, a man and woman, while moving forward.
Calfire described one victim’s injuries as moderate and the other person’s as major.
The two victims were airlifted to regional hospitals.
