Gilroy – The good news for coach Pete Quintanar’s Men’s C League softball team is that it clinched at least a tie for the first-half title Tuesday at Christmas Hill Park.

Art Naranjo buried three doubles and a single to spark Bad News past rival Pacific Coast Bail Bonds 31-3. The win left Bad News at 4-1 and Pacific Coast 3-2 entering the final night of play for the half.

Ricky Salinas scorched a three-run home run and a two-run single in a 5-for-5 night for the winners. Mike Gracia came up with four hits, while Joel Garcia and Ruben Lujan each scored four Bad News runs.

Daniel Vasquez carried the Pacific Coast Bail Bonds attack with a home run, RBI-single and a double.

Paulo Pereira went 6-for-7 as 2-3 K’s Dogs outlasted VFW Vets 20-11. Oscar Montenegro drove in four runs and Cody Wilson scored three runs for VFW Vets.

Blackout Window Tinting and Cosa Nostra each moved to 5-0 in Men’s DD action Tuesday.

Cosa Nostra struck for eight runs in the first inning on the way to a 20-8 decision over Sign Creations at Las Animas Park. Josh Gonzalez, Isaiah Gonzalez, Lupe Lemus and Juan Arias each homered for the winners. Moses Guerrero and George Morales each powered three hits for Sign Creations.

Blackout Window Tinting defeated Fine Line Painting 18-3 at Gavilan Sports Park. Chris Velador and Gabe Corral homered for the Tinters. Anthony Corral and James Simpson each netted three hits. Tim Adams launched a two-run homer and Phil Tercero and John Day each went 2-for-2 for Fine Line Painting.

The Assassins upset the Hitmen 9-6 behind two hits and two runs scored from Joseph Perez. Mario Razo hit a grand slam and Gilbert Tovar followed with a homer in the Hitmen first frame. The Assassins erased a 6-5 deficit with four runs in the fifth inning.

James Jimenez went 3-for-3 and Arnold Vasquez Jr. added three hits and three RBI to a 13-6 God’s Gangsters win over Loco Boys. John Hernandez belted a single, double and triple for the winners. Jimmy Castaneda went 3-for-3 for the Loco Boys.

Pacific Coast Bail Bonds topped the Energizers 16-4 Wednesday at Gavilan to take sole possession of first place in the Women’s D League at 3-1.

Jen Olvera homered in a four-hit effort and Vicki Velasquez went 3-for-3 for the winners. Julie Gillespie went 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Energizers.

Renee Rodgers homered and scored four times for Toby’s Girls in a 23-6 victory over Kay’s Kids. Lucy Solorzano and Elena Ayala each drove in four Toby’s Girls runs. Kat Corrales and Alicia Hernandez each posted two hits for Kay’s Kids.
