Gilroy – The Gilroy baseball team has a tough playoff road ahead. The high school’s softball team doesn’t have a road at all.

Saturday’s CCS seeding meeting saw the baseball team (16-11) draw a No. 10 seed in the Division I playoffs. Head coach Clint Wheeler’s squad must travel Wednesday to No. 7 Valley Christian (20-10) for a 4pm game against the perennial powerhouse from San Jose.

That’s a tough draw, but at least it is a draw – Gilroy’s softball team was not selected for the CCS playoffs despite a .500 record and a very tough preseason and league schedule. The Mustangs finish the year 14-14.
