Five Gilroy High students broke into the school, cut a pad lock and joy rode staff golf carts. They also broke the school’s cafeteria door and a window.
March 21
A black bag containing a glass water pipe and a bag of marijuana was found at Uvas Park by Wren Avenue at 8:30 a.m.
Someone broke into a home on Eigleberry Street through a window. They damaged floors, walls, cabinets and a counter at a value of $7,200.
A car was broken into on West Ninth Street and $9,000 of tools were stolen.
March 22
A 30-year-old felon was arrested in the north alley of Fairview Drive and found in possession of ammunition, stolen car parts and a phone with a police scanner turned to GIlroy Police.
March 23
A man on Colony Way tried to file his federal income taxes, but was denied because someone else using his social security number had already filed in his name.
Someone walked into an open door on Westwood Drive and stole an Apple Air computer while residents were upstairs.
Someone stole a vintage cruiser bike valued at $2,500 from a Carlyle Court garage.
March 24
Police were called to a motel on the 6100 block of Monterey Road because a 29-year-old woman was reportedly acting strangely at 2:20 a.m. She was outside with her six-month-old son and was arrested for being under the influence of narcotics and being in possession of methamphetamine.
A man who was driving a Mercedes reached over a Monterey Road motel desk at 6:40 a.m. and stole cash from a drawer, while the clerk was helping another guest.
A motorcyclist was injured trying to avoid a small dog at 12:44 p.m.at Monterey Street and Ronan Avenue. He cut his arm and leg and was treated at St. Louise hospital.
March 25
A 41-year-old man led police on a high speed car chase around a mobile home park on the 8200 block of Murray Avenue at 10 p.m. The driver almost hit a police car. He was arrested for DUI, failure to yield, driving on a suspended license and threatening officers.
March 26
A 23-year-old man fled the scene of a hit-and-run at Santa Teresa and Third Street at 3:24 a.m. Police arrested him at his home two hours later, where they said he was still under the influence of alcohol and admitted to being the driver of the car.
The owner of a storage locker on Murray Avenue found a bag of a green, leafy substance and called police to take it away. It was identified as marijuana “shake” in a large plastic bag.
A man and wife, 32 and 30, were arrested at 4:10 p.m. for burglarizing an empty residence with their children. The kids were taken by another family member and the couple was booked into GIlroy Jail. They had books, glasses and papers worth $300.
A 38-year-old man was arrested on Camino Arroyo after reportedly stealing earrings and a necklace from Kohl’s at 5:17 p.m. The store’s security staff stopped him and he returned the necklace, but not the earrings. Police were called and they arrested him on Holloway Road. He also had a meth pipe.
