The Downtown Specific Plan Task Force Meeting will be held at 6pm at the Gilroy Senior Center, 7371 Hanna St.

Get Updated On Workers’ Compensation

Gavilan Employer Advisory Council presents “Workers’ Compensation Updates” from 7:30 to 10:30am at San Juan Oaks Golf Club, located at Highway 156 and Union Road in Hollister.

Speaker Cheri Brandt of the State Compensation Insurance Fund will discuss all the Workers’ Compensation updates and reforms that have been enacted in the past year, as well as answer questions by businesses.

A buffet breakfast will be served at 8am, followed by the seminar. Cost is $25 to GEAC members and $35 to non-members.

Cooking Class And Wine Pairing At Winery

Guglielmo Winery, 1480 E. Main Ave. in Morgan Hill, will hold “Cooking Class and Wine Pairing” from 7:30 to 9pm. Learn how to make gourmet foods simply and quickly. Wine pairings and tasting will be included. Space is limited so reservations are required. Cost is $30 per person.

Special Education Advisory Meeting

Special Education CAC – Community Advisory Committee for Morgan Hill and Gilroy – will hold its next meeting from 7 to 9pm at HUSD District Office, 15600 Concord Circle in Morgan Hill.

The CAC is a group of parents, teachers, and administrators who work with children of special needs.

On Thursday, the video “Volume Two – Fitting In and Having Fun,” will be featured. The video is on social interactions for verbal children and teaches that by learning other people’s perspectives, a child can learn to affect a better outcome in social settings.

Loki The Owl’s Birthday Celebration

Join the Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center (WERC) on Saturday, April 16, from 1 to 3pm for the seventeenth birthday celebration of Loki, the Great Horned Owl.

Meet Loki and his animal friends, play owl inspired games and have cake and refreshments. Door prizes and a goodie bag for everyone.

Donations to help purchase special handling gloves for Loki and his friends would make a great birthday gift from generous guests.

Space is limited, so reservations are required.

Ambassador’s Scholarship Ball

The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce presents “Ambassador’s Scholarship Ball,” an evening of dinner, entertainment and dancing, on Friday, May 6, from 6 to 11pm at the Gilroy Elks’ Lodge, 2765 Hecker Pass Road. Cost is $65 per person.
