
Authorities responded to a single-vehicle traffic accident that slowed traffic on U.S. 101 Friday afternoon, with minor injuries reported.Â
California Highway Patrol received calls starting at 1:33 p.m. Friday from concerned motorists about debris in the southbound lanes of U.S. 101 near the exit for Monterey Street in Gilroy, according to CHP Officer Erica Elias. By 1:35 p.m. calls reported that a vehicle was on its side next to the center divider. Based off preliminary reports, Elias stated that the debris drivers were swerving to avoid was a ladder.Â
Only one vehicle was involved in the accident and minor injuries were reported, Elias said. Traffic on the highway was delayed significantly by first responders and the subsequent cleanup operation.Â
