age of 84, after a period of failing health.
Charles “Chuck” Bowman died at his residence on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at the age of 84, after a period of failing health.
Bowman lived in San Juan Bautista and was a resident of San Benito County since 1957. He was a Sergeant of the U.S. Army Aircorps and received the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal. Bowman was also a member of the American Legion Post of Hollister.
Chuck Bowman had been a local bartender at the Smoke House and the Town Club in Hollister for many years. After his retirement from there he worked for Soil Service, at both their locations at Hillcrest Road and Industrial Park. He retired after 16 years there as their office manager.
Bowman is survived by his wife Luverne Bowman, of San Juan Bautista; his sister Lois Finney, of Oroville; his daughter Cindy Ouinlan and her husband Bill, of Salinas; his daughter Cheryl Zamora, of Santa Clara; his daughter Jeannie Martin and husband Trini, of San Juan Bautista; his son Charles “Charlie” E. Bowman, of San Juan Bautista; his son Mike Bowman and wife Nancy, of Tulsa, Okla,; as well as 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In following with Mr. Bowman’s wishes, arrangements have been made for private cremation at Grunnagle Ament Nelson Crematory. His cremains will be interred privately in the Veterans Section of San Juan District Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Heartland Hospice cover of Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home.
