■YES – however the city should be very STRICT on violations! n Yes, the non-profits really benefit from the sales, but the city should charge a percentage of profits and use the funding to seek out and fine those that use illegal fireworks.
â– Yes. Safe fireworks are symbols of our 200-year heritage and independence.
â– In the past there have been safety concerns, but overall, the community has generally proved their responsible use of “sane” fireworks. Continue to support the nonprofits while also providing enhanced community education.
â– NO for three reasons: Too much use of illegal fireworks everywhere in town; no way to prevent fireworks going off before and after 7/4; no way to control late night fireworks.
â– I dislike fireworks, but love the small-town camaraderie they provide. However, my poor dog! The noise drives him crazy. I wish people would just explode things on the actual Fourth. n YES! I live for the rockets red glare, the smell of gunpowder and singed hair, the concussion and report of the things that go BOOM!
â– OK. Yes , fireworks are a tradition in Gilroy and raise a lot of money for organizations.
â– Yes.They are the “safe” kind and it is an excellent fund-raising opportunity for many groups.
