THIS WEEK’S WEB POLL:

If you were a city of Gilroy employee would you tell your union to negotiate substantial across-the-board pay cuts or to stick with the planned layoffs?

Pay cuts: 8 Layoffs: 2

â–  Stick to the planned layoffs. Unfortunately, slicing pay for everyone will create a bigger morale problem than the layoffs will create.

â–  Renegotiate the contract. Even if one job is saved it would be worth it.

â–  Since planned layoffs don’t go into effect until Jan. or Feb. I’d spend my time looking for another job.

â–  Negotiate across-the-board pay cuts.

â–  If the across-the-board pay cuts mean from management on down, I would be a team player. If they are just cutting the lower-end jobs I might be better off on unemployment for a few months.

â–  Pay cuts, at least I would still have a job.
