Perez hits 3-run homer to lead team into championship against
VFW Vets
GILROY – Dee’s Nuts captured the Men’s CC League second-half championship Monday by outlasting Krazy Koyote-Dutchman’s Pizza 14-11 at Christmas Hill Park.

Dave Perez hit a three-run home run as Dee’s moved into the best 2-of-3 Championship Series opposite VFW Vets beginning Monday Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Las Animas Park.

Dee’s and Krazy-Dutchman tied for first place in the four-team circuit with 4-2 records, forcing Monday’s showdown.

Don Hufnagel and Raul Toledo each clubbed three hits for Krazy-Dutchman, although Dee’s Nuts did not relinquish the lead at any time.

Dee’s snapped a 9-9 tie with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. Pascual Cid and Jesus Perales stroked run-scoring two-out singles to highlight the rally. Ernie Lopez followed with a two-run double.

Cesar Lopez went 3-for-4 and scored three runs for Dee’s Nuts.

The Titans moved to 3-2 in Men’s E League play Monday with a 19-11 victory over St. Mary Men’s Club.

Leading 9-7 after six innings, the Titans secured the win with a 10-run seventh. Greg Renn lined two singles and Johnny Ramirez added a two-run double in the Titan final frame.

Rudy Diaz went 4-for-4 and scored four Titan runs. Ramirez added a solo home run, Craig Courtney three singles for the winners.

Christian Alonzo powered a three-run home run and Kyle Hypes added a double and two singles to the St. Mary Men’s Club offense.
