Osiris Munoz, the defendant in the fatal Rio Nilo stabbing, will appear for his arraignment Monday morning as the case with confusing testimonies and seemingly made-up names gets underway.
Osiris Quintero Munoz will appear before Superior Court Judge Teresa Guerrero-Daley at 8:35 a.m. at the San Martin Courthouse.
Earlier this month, the judge held Munoz accountable for the murder of 26-year-old Juan DeDios Arvizu Cabrera of Castroville even though the deceased’s brother, Adan Cabrera of Salinas, survived the attack and did not identify Munoz as the attacker in court.
Police believe Adan Cabrera has an unclear memory of the night two men picked a fight with him and his brother at the bar. The fight spilled outside and resulted in the death of his brother, police said.
Munoz has told police he was in his car while his friend, Bernabe Mungia Zuniga – who is on Gilroy’s Most Wanted and who police believe went to Mexico – and another man by the name of “Piliberto Martinez” fought the brothers. Police suspect Munoz made up the Martinez character.
Also, in a preliminary hearing appearance earlier this week, a friend and colleague of Munoz told the court that Munoz admitted to stabbing the Cabrera brothers the day after the incident.
