Added hours for
Spring registration
GILROY
– Gavilan College has added evening registration hours for the
remaining two weeks of the open registration period for Spring
semester. Students may register from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan.
15 and Jan. 22 at either the Morgan Hill or Hollister sites. The
Gilroy main campus will not add evenin
g registration hours.
Open registration runs from Jan. 13 to 22. Daytime hours are
Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday from 9
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Late registration will run from Jan. 23 to 29,
Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For information on registration, admissions or

Family to Family meeting

GILROY – The next Family to Family meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Gilroy Family Resource Center, 8833 Monterey Road from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Dinner and child supervision will be provided. Details: 846-4407.

Help plan Sunrise Park

GILROY – The Sunrise Park Community Meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Antonio Del Buono School, 9300 Wren Ave. in Gilroy. Results from the Neighborhood Recreation Questionnaire and a revised concept plan will be presented and discussed. Details: 846-0444.

Media Lab open house

GILROY – The Gavilan College Digital Media and Computer Graphics and Design programs invite the public to the first hands-on open house in the Gavilan College Digital Media/Computer Graphics and Design Studio. Everyone is invited to explore and have fun with digital media and computer graphics. Attendees may bring a picture or home video to edit and convert to a video CD using the lab’s state-of-the-art computers (both Macs and PCs) and software. This event is free and open to the public. There will be no charge for parking. The open house will be at Room 171 in the Library building, Gilroy main campus, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15. Symphony presents concert

GILROY – The next concert for South Valley Symphony will be presented on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Gavilan College Theater with presentations at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program will feature pianist Adler Ma, who will perform Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Number 5, “The Emperor,” with symphony accompaniment. Tickets will go on sale Wednesday, Jan. 15 at California Music Company and Porcella’s Music in downtown Gilroy and Snappy Photo at 785 First St. in Gilroy, The Music Tree in Morgan Hill, Terry’s House of Candles in San Juan Bautista and Dorothy McNett’s Place in downtown Hollister. Be the next Miss Gavilan Hills

GILROY – Contestant packets for the Miss Gavilan Hills and Miss Northern California Regional pageant are now available. The deadline to enter is April 4 with the pageant April 12. Women who enter must be between the ages of 17 and 23. They’re judged on an interview, community service, talent, swimsuit and evening wear. The winner will receive a scholarship and go on to compete at the Miss California Pageant. Three of Miss Gavilan Hills’ former contestants have gone onto compete in the Miss America Pageant. Learn to write a business plan

GILROY – Gavilan College Small Business Center will hold a small business workshop on writing business plans from 6 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 16 at their new offices in the Dry Creek Village Center, 8351 Church St. in Gilroy. ‘The Miracle Worker’ opens

GILROY – Odyssey Theatre Company’s winter Main Stage Production of “The Miracle Worker” will open Friday, Jan. 24, in the Gilroy High School Theatre and run for three weekends. “The Miracle Worker,” by William Gibson, is based on the true story of Annie Sullivan’s heroic efforts to teach her new pupil, young Helen Keller. “The Miracle Worker” will be performed Friday and Saturdays, Jan. 24 to Feb. 8 at 8 p.m., with a Sunday matinee Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for students and seniors. Opening night, closing night, and the Sunday matinee will be “signed” by an American Sign Language interpreter. Gilroy High School is located at the corner of 10th and Princevalle streets. Details: www.odysseytheatre.org.
