Join GPD and California Highway Patrol officers for free Wienerschnitzel hot dogs and drinks a. Kids can bring their bikes to challenge the “Safe Moves City,” a bicycle safety course which includes sidewalks, street, crosswalks, railroad crossings and more.

Also, kids can get fingerprinted in case of an emergency.

Casino night benefits Saint Mary School

Gilroy – Saint Mary School presents “Casino Nite” on Saturday, Sept. 18 with dinner at 6pm, games from 7 to 10pm and dessert and prizes until 11pm at St. Mary’s Cullen Hall.

The cost of $50 per person includes appetizers, Santa Maria style tri-tip and chicken barbecue, dessert, prizes, two drink tickets and $25 in chips to begin play.

Guests can even win a trip to beautiful Cabo San Lucas. Ages 21 and older only, please.

Bettencourt memorial golf tournament

Gilroy – The Bettencourt Family invites everyone to participate in the sixth annual “Dustin J. Bettencourt Memorial Golf Tournament” on Saturday, at the Gilroy Golf Course, 2695 Hecker Pass Road.

Registration starts at noon, followed by a shotgun start at 1pm and a barbecue dinner at 6:30pm.

Entry fee is $90 per player, or $70 for annual passholders, and includes green fees, golf cart, dinner, refreshments and prizes.

Guests are encouraged to play on a four-man team.

Additional dinner tickets are $15 each. Those who cannot play but would like to sponsor a hole may do so for $75.

Gilroy – The YMCA of Santa Clara Valley has launched fall registration of youth and adult sports, child care and wellness programs at its seven branches throughout Santa Clara Valley.

Be entertained watching the Belles

Gilroy – Pintello Comedy Theater presents “Belles” on Fridays and Saturdays, through Oct. 2 at 8pm each night, at 8531 Church St.

The play is about six women from Memphis who live all over the country and stay in touch by phone. The exchanges are sometimes hilarious and sometimes poignant, but always entertaining.

Enroll now and become a junior ranger

Gilroy – Coyote Lake County Park is starting a free junior ranger program for 9 to 11 year olds.

In six sessions, children will learn about the roles of the ranger, the plants and animals in the park, and the Ohlone people.

The program will be held on Wednesdays, Sept. 22 through Nov. 3, from 3:30 to 5:30pm, except Oct. 6. Children must be able to attend at least four of the six programs.

Enjoy Safe Night family carnival in the park

Gilroy – Safe Night presents “Carnival in the Park” on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 3 to 6pm at San Ysidro Park, located at the corner of Murray and Chestnut streets.

Bring the family for children’s activities, jump houses and slides, face painting, clowns, balloons, live music with Tri-Plex, lots of food and raffle prizes.

Meet the Gilroy Police Department, including the canine and horse officers, and explore the DARE car.

Entertainment from Izkaili Aztec Dancers, Allison Barnes Irish Dance Academy, Stompin! and many more. Plus Mayor Al Pinheiro and Assemblyman Simon Salinas join in for a Peace Pledge. Event is free.
