Lend a Hand to Clean Up Local Waterways
Gilroy – Saturday is National River Cleanup Day and for three hours, volunteers will clean up trash and debris in and around local creeks and rivers, thus protecting water quality, preserving habitat for plants and animals, and preventing pollution from flowing down to the San Francisco and Monterey bays. Volunteers should bring long pants, sturdy shoes, gloves, sunscreen and a cap or hat. Most sites will provide extra gloves.
In Gilroy, meet at Christmas Hill Park at 9am. Volunteers will clean Uvas Creek at Santa Teresa Boulevard to Thomas Road.

Fun-Loving Production of ‘Annie’ Opening
Morgan Hill – South Valley Civic Theatre presents “Annie.” Performances at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse May 19, 20, 26 and 27 at 8pm; May 27 at 2pm; June 3, 9 and 10 at 8pm; and June 3 at 2pm.

Time to Honor the Fallen Peace Officers
On Friday May 19 at noon, the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office will host the County Memorial Service honoring those brave and heroic peace officers of Santa Clara County, who have given their lives in the line of duty.
The countywide memorial service will be held at the Santa Clara County Peace Officer’s Memorial located in front of the Sheriff’s Office at 55 W. Younger Ave., San Jose.
It is open to the public.
Home Show Set for Bonfante Gardens
Gilroy – The Home, Garden & Gourmet Show returns to Bonfante Gardens May 19 to 21. The show begins Friday from 3 to 9pm with Gourmet Garden Gala. Special $15 admission. The show is included with general admission to Bonfante and continues Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21 from 10am to 6pm. Bonfante Gardens is located at 3050 Hecker Pass Highway.

Enjoy a Spot of Tea and a GUSD Speaker
Gilroy – Martha Martinez, Gilroy Unified School District State and Federal Program Administrator, will be the featured speaker at a special AAUW Membership Tea on Saturday, May 20. The tea will be held at the lovely home of Eileen Barret from 11:30am to 1pm and costs $12. Membership in AAUW is now open to persons with a degree from either a four year college or a two year college.
