Estella Maria Barron died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005 at her brother Raymond’s home in Newman, after a brief illness. She was 52.

A native of Patterson, the family moved to Watsonville when she was a young girl. She attended local schools and graduated from Watsonville High School as well as the Cabrillo Nursing Program. She had been a nurse for 32 years, 23 of those with Dr. Roisman. Mrs. Barron was a member of the New Hope Community Church in Gilroy.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Veronica Contreras and their children Reanne, Anthony Jr. and Andrianna of Gilroy. A fourth grandchild is expected in July. She also leaves three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Johnnie (Tricia) Barron of Manteca, Martin Barron of Watsonville and Raymond (Janet) Barron of Newman; two sisters and brothers-in-law Espe (Leonard) Garcia of Stockton and Lucy (Robert) Rodriguez of Watsonville; cousins, Tia and Teresa Ochoa of Watsonville, Robert and Lucy Nunez of Watsonville, Bobby Ochoa Jr. of Salinas, and Denise and John Espinoza of Hollister.

A service will be held on Sunday, at 6pm at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel in Watsonville.

Funeral services will be held at 10am, Monday at Green Valley Christian Center, Watsonville.

Burial will follow at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park. Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 10am at the church.

A memorial fund has been set in Mrs. Barron’s name at Bank of America, #0143966099, to aid other families with and research of Creutzfeldt Jakob’s Disease.
