GILROY – JT Tipton worked inside for 22 points Monday as Jiffy Lube completed a 6-0 march through the first-half Men’s D Basketball League season with a 71-57 victory over Hard Ninety at Solorsano Gymnasium.
Robert Otis provided 18 points and Ron Colman Jr. 11 to help Jiffy Lube to the first-half crown.
Mark Cisneros paced the Hard Ninety (4-2) attack with 19 points. Frank Tomasetti poured in 18 markers for Hard Ninety.
South Valley Disposal garnered third place at 3-3 with a 71-66 edging of Intero.
Derek Strong led the South Valley Disposal offense with 25 points, including four 3-pointers in an 18-point first half performance. Rick Vasquez tossed in 13 points and Donnie Gooding managed 12 for the winners.
Miguel Gilliard dropped in 18 points as Intero produced five shooters in double figures. Marcos Barbosa scored 15 points, Jonathan Mixter and Kevin Steele 11 apiece and Daniel Fauss 10.
Gamers In Control escaped the D League cellar by trimming Techron 53-52. Anthony Werner anchored the Gamers with 28 points, including three 3-pointers and a 7-for-7 effort from the free throw line.
Justin Nicholson highlighted the Techron offense with 16 points, all in the second half as they rallied from a 24-16 deficit. Kendrick Azcueta and Jordan Cania each scored 14 points for Techron.
Shake N Bake finished the first half of the Men’s DD League with a five-game winning streak, defeating the Warriors 69-41 to take the pennant with a 5-1 mark.
Vince Bautista struck for 19 points and Tucker Baksa netted 15 as the Shakers earned a spot in the D League for the second half. Eric Tollison aided the Shake N Bake cause with 12 points. Frank Palacios led the Warrior offense with 13 points, including four 3-pointers.
Crunch Time finished the half at 4-2 by outlasting the Gilroy Bulls 47-42.
Eric Smith made five 3-pointers to finish with 23 points as Morgan Hill Garage Door (4-2) defeated State Farm Insurance 78-42.
Alexis Rivas contributed 20 points, Gene Cotter 18 for the Garage Door. Philip Terry popped in 12 points, Adolfo Mireles 11 for State Farm.
