Bryant Cid led the Cougars balanced attack with three catches

Cougars welcome Acorns to town tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Though there were plenty of positives to take away from a 28-10 loss to Sobrato in its season debut last week, the Christopher High football team is not satisfied with just keeping the game within reach.

So it was back to the grind this week, learning, preparing and healing as another Morgan Hill team makes its way up U.S. 101 tonight. The Live Oak Acorns (0-1) visit the Cougars at Garcia-Elder Sports Complex with both teams in search of win No. 1.

“Everybody was there bright and early Saturday morning,” head coach Tim Pierleoni said. “They got a good look at themselves on film and corrected some of the things that we needed to correct. They understood the mistakes they made. There is no quit in the kids. They practiced extremely hard all week.”

Despite gaining 413 yards of offense, five turnovers handicapped the Acorns’ effort against Gilroy High in a 35-30 last week.

The Acorns put up 268 yards of rushing offense against the Mustangs. The Cougars surrendered 240 against the Bulldogs.

“They are coached really well,” Pierleoni said. “We have done our homework. We have done everything that we can do to prepare ourselves. Now the kids have to go out and execute.”

An already small sideline shrinks a bit more this week due to injuries. The Cougars will dress about 21 players for the game, Pierleoni said.
