Friday night was not all right for the Gilroy High and Christopher High football teams in the Monterey Bay League Gabilan Division.
The Mustangs (2-7 overall, 1-4 league), in Salinas to face first-place Palma, hung in with the Chieftains for the first half. But that’s about it. Palma went on to win 73-34.
Brendan Holler had three touchdowns in the loss.
In Gilroy, the Cougars (1-8 overall, 1-4 league) hosted second-place Monterey and were shut out, 49-0.
The two local schools face one another in the third annual Severance Bowl next Friday night.
