Gilroy – A 19-year-old Gilroy teen was arrested on suspicion of intimidating a witness at the scene of a crime, and police say he may be involved in two vehicle fires.
The incident began about 3:15am Wednesday, when a car on Rogers Lane was reported ablaze. Five hours later, in an adjacent parking lot on the same street, another car was reported on fire.
Although there were no suspects there was a “subject of interest,” Kyle Tackett 19, who was later arrested at his residence.
“This gentlemen went out there and he ended up getting angry at those witnesses at the scene,” said Gilroy police Sgt. Robert Locke-Paddon
The threat included the report of a man with a gun, but police said they didn’t find a weapon.
“I think (the threat) was related to the incident of the vehicle arson,” Locke-Paddon said.
A total of four cars and a fence were damaged as a result of the fires. A SUV, a green Chrysler, a dark blue compact, and a white Cadillac were all damaged, as was a nearby fence.
The investigation will continue to determine if Tackett was responsible for the fires, Locke-Paddon said.
There were no injuries reported.
