The Gavilan softball team’s bats were ablaze during Tuesday’s doubleheader with West Hills College.
The Rams swept the series picking up an 8-0 win in Game 1, followed by a 11-0 shutout in Game 2. The contest was originally scheduled for Feb. 6, but was rescheduled due to the weather.
Paige Miguel was in the circle for the first set, closing out the game in six innings. Angelica Carrillo followed suit, blanking the visitors in five innings with help from Sam Parraz who got the offense started with a two-run blast in the first. 
Gavilan (6-1) will play in the Stars and Stripes Tournament Friday and Saturday in Visalia. The Rams kick things off with a 10 a.m. contest against Consumnes River College.
BASEBALL
Gavilan tops De Anza in extras
The Gavilan baseball team needed an extra inning to finish off De Anza Tuesday.
The Rams topped De Anza 4-3 in 10 innings at home, improving to 3-4 on the season. 
Gavilan had the bases loaded when Sean Allen singled in the bottom of the 10th to score Jake Conlan. Allen was 1 for 1 with an RBI.
Conlan had an RBI of his own in the bottom of the third, reaching on an error by the short stop to score Adam Kocina. Conlan also had a stolen base in the game. 
Steven Martinez had two RBIs for Gavilan. The first came after he reached on an error by the short stop to send Kocina home. Martinez picked up his second RBI in the bottom of the fifth when he flied out to right field to score Eric Guill-Perez.
Gavilan will be back on the diamond at 2 p.m. Friday at De Anza.
