Of course, voters can send the ballots back by mail through any local post office. Ballots in a green envelope – signaling that the voter is in a mail-only voting district – are free to send, according the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters. Ballots in a blue envelope are 42 cents, or 44 cents starting May 11.
Voters can also drop off their ballots during business hours at one of many locations throughout the county. In Gilroy, voters can drop off their ballot at City Hall, 7351 Rosanna St. The County Government Center, 70 W. Hedding St. in San Jose, will also be collecting ballots free of charge.
