Gilroy Police last week responded to a variety of crimes, including child abuse, drug possession, found property, fraud and identity theft.
Narcotics possession
A minor was found by staff to be in possession of marijuana, a pipe and a lighter at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at Gilroy High School.
Child abuse
A father kicked his 15-year-old daughter in the face during an argument at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 17.Â
Animal disturbance
A citation was issued to a dog owner because of his pet’s excessive barking at noon Dec. 17 on Acorn Way.
Found property
A pair of Gilroy residents found a small bundle of methamphetamine while painting a closet in a house they had just purchased. The meth was booked into evidence.
Fraud
On Dec. 19 on the 7800 block of Church Street an unknown suspect gained access to a victim’s credit card and charged approximately $418.
Robbery and damaged property
At 3:30 p.m. Dec. 19 an unknown suspect entered a store on First Street, selected a bottle of tequila and began drinking from it. When confronted by the clerk/victim, the suspect threw the bottle at the victim, narrowly missing his head. The victim chased the suspect from the store, but the suspect turned and charged at the victim, swinging at the victim’s head with his fists. The victim retreated behind the counter and retrieved a baseball bat. The suspect grabbed a second bottle of tequila and ran out of the store. The stolen liquor and a sunglasses display case damaged during the incident. Damages and stolen property came to a total of $740.Â
Found property
A resident on Farrell Avenue reported finding a woman’s purse and misc. hand tools in his backyard Dec. 19.
Counterfeit bill
On Dec. 19 at 9:59 p.m. an individual unknowingly attempted to pass a counterfeit $10 bill. This individual received the bill as change from a purchase she made at a Kohl’s Department store.
