Crime news

This week Gilroy Police responded to a variety of crimes Jan. 21-24, including burglaries, petty theft, animal bite, lewd and lascivious act, DUI and hit and run.

Hit and run

  • Jan. 21 at noon on the 6900 block of Cameron Boulevard a suspect in a maroon Hummer H2 pulling a black utility trailer with four quads drove through the driver through of a Sonic Burger damaging the speaker box. The Sonic manager and the driver exchanged information, but the manager later learned the information was fake.

Residential burglary

  • Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. on the 800 block of Mantelli Drive unknown suspect(s) entered the residence through an open sliding window. Once inside, suspect(s) stole televisions and other personal items.

DUI

  • Jan. 21 at 12:25 a.m. on the 8100 block of Monterey Street, Paul Plaza, 38, was arrested after being stopped and found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Stolen vehicle

  • Jan. 21 at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Renz Lane a 1997 Honda Accord was stolen.

Auto burglary

  • Jan. 21 at approximately 8 p.m. on the 8500 block of Church Street suspect(s) smashed the right rear window of a black 2000 Ford Expedition and stole clothing and an external hard drive. Property and damages valued at $1,100.

Petty theft

  • Jan. 22 at approximately 12:10 p.m. a resident cut city water pipes and turned his water back on at the 1000 block Welburn Avenue after it was turned off for non-payment.
  • Jan. 22 at 8:05 p.m. on the 7100 block of Camino Arroyo Makayla Salgado, 19, Desiree Granados, 29, and Kristal Salgado, 36, entered Wal-Mart, concealed merchandise and exited the store without paying. All three were cited and released.

Dog bite

  • Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. on the 400 block of E. Sixth Street a pit bill mix bit a 25 year-old male known to the dog’s owner.

Counterfeit

  • Jan. 22 at 5:40 p.m. on he 900 block of First Street at a Taco Bell an unknown female suspect passed a counterfeit $10 bill.

Trespassing

  • Jan. 22 at 11 p.m. on the 700 block of First Street Cheyenne Sonny Bear, 58, was placed under citizen’s arrest at a Starbucks by the store manager when the man refused to leave at closing.

Lewd and lascivious acts

  • Jan. 24 at 7:58 p.m. on the 1100 block of First Street Jason Kaiser, 33, was arrested for indecent exposure.
