Vea Riana Mendoza, 3 years old, earned her angel wings on February 12, 2012 Though Riana's life would seem too short to many, those whose lives she touched understood that her optimism, bright smile, and big heart exceeds the quantity of time in one's life. She reminded us of the preciousness of life.
Born in Del Rio, TX to Rafael and Petra Navarro, she passed away on December 25 at her home in Anderson, surrounded by her family. Julie leaves her son Marty Perez (Betty) and her grandchildren Kyle and Emerald, daughter Margo Fesas (Nestor) and grandchildren Nestor lll, Lauren, Michael and William. Julie was preceded in death by her brother, Rafael Navarro and is survived by her sisters, Mary Garcia, Josie Hodges, Diana Montarbo and brothers Edward and Robert Navarro. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on December 31, 2009, followed by internment next to her parents in Morgan Hill. We pray for the strength to endure the loss.

Juan A. Polo aged 91 years passed away at his residence with his family at his side. Juan was a native of Salamanca, Spain, was educated in Spain, and came to San Benito County 52 years ago. He was employed as a cannery worker for 27 years until he retired. He was an active member of the Sociedad Espanola De San Benito; Sacred Heart Church; and belonged to the Teamsters Local No 890 of Salinas. His interests included the U.B.E. Lodge barbeques and dances; visiting with his friends at the Senior Citizen Center – playing bingo there and at Sacred Heart Parish; going to the Indian casinos, and watching boxing matches on the television-"he wouldn't miss it if one was televised", said his family. Juan's wife Nicolasa Polo passed away in December 1989. He is survived by his children and their spouses Mary Polo Puente, husband Mike of San Francisco, Isidro Polo, spouse Linda of Hollister, Angela Polo-Dixon, spouse Bob of Ventura, Johnny Polo, spouse Jean of Campbell, and Agustina Polo Gallegos, spouse Emilio of Hollister; 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother Marceliano Polo of Spain and many nieces and nephews.
Raymond J. Gomes Sr., 89, died September 23, 2012 at his home in Morgan Hill, CA. He was born December 25, 1922 in Berryessa, CA, the son of the late Frank and Mary Gomes.
Kindred spirit, Christy, left our world for a happier one on December 24, 2006. Never a thought for herself, she worried most about the feelings of her family and friends and the many others that are suffering from cancer.
Marietta Segal passed away quietly in her home in Morgan Hill, CA on July 29, 2009. Dr. Segal received her doctorate degree from State University of N.Y. at Buffalo. She was a professor and Head of the Child Development And Educational Studies Department at Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA, retiring May, 2008. Ms. Segal will be loved and missed by her friends and family, as she touched many lives with her generosity and sense of humor.
