Rudolph Lawrence Enger

Rudolph Lawrence Enger, 89, passed away on December 17, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice Margaret. Rudy was born in Red Elm, South Dakota and spent his childhood in Wisconsin. His youth was spent in Gary, Indiana, where he worked in the produce department of a grocery store, did concrete construction and was employed in the steel mills. Rudy served in the Army during WWII in the European theater. He drove supply trucks transporting supplies and men during the Battle of the Bulge. He met his wife of forty years at a USO dance while training at Camp Adair, Oregon. They were married in Salinas, California, after his discharge from the Army, the couple settled in Gilroy in 1945, where Rudy worked for his father-in-law at Concrete Construction Company. When the business moved to Oregon, Rudy found employment at Gilroy Motors until his retirement. He spent his retirement in the home he and his wife built, gardening, wood-working and sitting under the crepe myrtle watching the birds feed. His is survived by his daughter Margaret Enger and his faithful Australian Shepherd, Mattie.

Frances Patricia O’Donnell

Frances Patricia O'Donnell passed away Monday evening at the age of 87. Born in Hollister and attended Sacred Heart School, San Benito High School and San Jose State College. She received her master's Degree in Math from Stanford University. She taught at San Benito High School and was the first woman in the Math Dept. at San Jose State College. Patricia was an avid golfer and Stakeholder in Ridgemark Assn. and was a gifted Ukulele player.

Kyoko Kawaguchi

Memorial services for the late Kyoko "Curley" Kawaguchi, who passed away on March 16, 2010, will be held on June 19, 2010, 11:00 A.M., at Habing Family Funeral Home, 129 Fourth St., Gilroy, CA. Margaret (Peg) Smith Gorman

Peg passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on 10/27/08 after a long and graceful struggle with emphysema. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Gorman. She is survived by her daughter, Cara Morrow, Son-in-law, Paul Morrow and Grandson, Joey Morrow. Charles Joseph Kantmann

Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, godfather, and friend to innumerable humans and dogs, Chuck was an accomplished programmer, mechanic, lector, cribbage player, rancher, shaker, solemnizer, and a semi-successful fisherman and dancer.

Larry M. Perovich

Larry M Perovich, age 51, went home to be with Jesus on June 19, 2007.

Philip R. Coates

Philip R. Coates, 86, died October 24, 2007 after a short illness at the Veteran's Hospital in Palo Alto. He was raised in Morgan Hill and graduated from Live Oak High School in 1939. He later joined the Army as a paratrooper, was injured, then captured as a POW. When he returned to Morgan Hill, he worked for the Leonard Coates Nursery and later the Morgan Hill Unified School District as a gardener. Upon retirement he moved to Aromas, CA.

Marjorie E. Chesnut

Marjorie E. Chesnut passed away in Hollister. She was born in Beaver City, Nebraska and came to Hollister from Richmond, CA in 1944. She was married to her husband, Erwin "Chet" Chesnut in 1940 in Carson City, NV. He preceded her in death in 1989. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, Order of Eastern Star, Fidelity Rebekah Lodge and was active in the local senior citizens program where she taught crafts. She enjoyed oil painting in her free time.
