Long time resident of Morgan Hill, Art Malmstrom passed away December 1 at his retirement home in Pioneer, California. Malmstrom and family moved to Morgan Hill in 1972 and resided there for 30 years.
Edgar C. Scornaienchi passed away at the age of 89 Monday morning at Mabie Southside Skilled Nursing facility in Hollister. He was born in Piane Crati, Italy, province of Calabria. During World War II, Ed served as a mechanic in the Army Air Corp. He was a beer distributor in Salinas prior to moving to Santa Rosa and Cameron Park, where he was a Real Estate Broker for 22 years. Ed along with his wife, Lillian, moved to Hollister in the early 1980s. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tres Pinos, Italian Catholic Federation, Hollister Elk's Lodge # 1436 and SIRS, of Hollister. Ed was predeceased by his late wife, Lillian L. Scornaienchi, who died in March of 2005, his daughter Kimberly, grandson, Aaron and his brother, Ernest. He is the father of Toni Cantrell, husband, Frank of Salinas, Diane Balesteri, husband, Manuel, of Monterey and Peter Scornaienchi, wife, Mary, of Portland, Oregon, grandfather of Stacy Carnazzo, husband, Jeff, of Salinas, Dr. Steven Cantrell, wife, Michelle, of Visalia and Jennifer Balesteri of Salinas, brother of August Scornaienchi of Pacific Grove. Also survived by four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jose Mercado passed away Dec. 8, 2007 in San Jose, CA. He was 51 years old. He is survived by his wife Maria Mercado of Gilroy. Father of Aurora and her husband Chris Gonzalez, Elizabeth Mercado and Jessie Mercado all of Gilroy. He is the son of Jesus and Socorro Mercado of Fremont. Also survived by six sisters and many nieces and nephews. Jose was a bus driver for the Gilroy Unified School District. He has been a Gilroy resident for over 10 years.

Rowan Schoenberger passed peacefully on December 1, 2007 in Fort Collins, CO. She is survived by her parents, Claudia and Andrew, of Fort Collins, CO and grandparents, Richard and Rosalva Guzman, both of Hollister, CA.
Galen D. Mitchell passed away suddenly Friday December 7, 2007. Loving husband of Bev Mitchell of Gilroy. Father of Joey Mitchell (Jenny) of Gilroy and Helen Friebel (Jimmy IV) of Hollister. Grandfather of Jordan, Jessica and Joey Jr. Mitchell all of Gilroy, Will Soares and Jimmy Friebel V,all of Hollister. Brother of Linda Kay Price(Abe) of Hollister, Michael Mitchel (Vicki) of Thousand Oaks, CA, Danny Mitchell (Bobbi) of Gilroy, Dixie Zamzow (Jim) of Hollister. Preceded in death by his parents John & Irene Mitchell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts.
Ella Elizabeth Leckey passed away Sunday in Hollister at the age of 92. She came to San Juan Bautista five years ago to be with her daughter, Valerie Halla, husband, Ken and her 3 grandchildren, all of San Juan Bautista.
Judy Allene Tankersley left us peacefully, joining her beloved husband, Robert Lynn Tankersley Sr, her father, Earl Osborne, and daughter, Lori Sprague. A San Jose native, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who had dedicated her life to her family. Judy had battled cancer for over five years, never losing hope or the belief that she could overcome it. Her perseverance and strength throughout this time was nothing less than inspiring to every life she touched. Judy is survived by ten children, 23 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, December 8th, at Rolling Hills Community Church, 330 Tres Pinos Rd. in Hollister.
Entered into rest in Hollister at the age of 28. He was born in Hollister and lived here all of his life. He is a graduate of San Benito High School and enjoyed riding his bicycle, fishing and spending time with his family.
