Nick Gonzales passed away in Hollister, last Sunday at the age of 83. He was born in Hollister and has lived here all his life. Nick served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Hollister Elk's Lodge and the V.F.W. Post 9242 of Hollister. Nick had been a local TV Repairman and antenna installer for over 30 years and later became a weight master for Tri-Valley Cannery.
Mamie Sgheiza passed away peacefully at her home which she occupied for 62 years. Born in 1912 to Alfred and Zaria Maraccini she attended local schools and worked for Filice and Perelli Cannery. Later she worked for Star Millinery, Letha's Dress Shop, and Clark's Jewelers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Al Sgheiza, sister Lena Defreese, sister-in-laws Helen Bonino and Annie Sgheiza. She is survived by her daughter, Anita Sciutto, Husband George, grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinson (Rich), Jennifer Freese (Alan) and Darrell Sciutto. Great grandchildren Dustin Robinson, Nicholas Robinson, Amanda Morrell and Shelby and Jack Freese. Nieces and nephews Elaine Bonino, Louie Bonino and Donald Bonino.
Vigil Service will be Wednesday, June 23, 2010, 7:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Church, Gilroy. Funeral Mass, Thursday, June 24, 2010, 11:00 A.M. also at St. Mary's Church.
Our father "Daddy" Albert Torres Sr., son of Felipe and Lucia Torres passed away peacefully with family and friends at his side on October 8, 2009, in Los Banos, CA. Albert was born in Tulare, CA on August 15, 1939. He was a longtime Gilroy resident. He will be dearly missed by his children and their families. Albert was preceded in death by his two sons Philip and Miguel Torres and three of his brothers. He is survived by his children and their family's Albert Torres Jr., Robert and Crystal Torres, Rodney and Irma Torres, Cynthia and David Haglund, Jeanette and Jerry Ostrowski, Molly and Michael Ham, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also survived by 7 brothers and sisters. Albert retired in 2001 after 42 years of professional masonry and master of all trades. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, October 15, 2009 2:00 P.M. at St. Catherine Catholic Church, 17400 Peak Avenue, Morgan Hill. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Memorial Park, Morgan Hill.
Joann passed away peacefully on July 18, 2009, in San Jose. She is survived by her brothers Charles A. Larson, Jack H. Larson, and Donald W. Larson (Joy), her sister Grace R. Carlton, her sister-in-law Mary Larson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Edward J. Larson.
